8 WordPress Plugins for Ads

I have been thinking about adding some ads on my site. I do not expect to make a living doing this, or even really make any money. I do not have a focus, which as many of the money making blogs point out, is really necessary. But it would be nice if I can get enough to occasionally defray some of the costs for my hosting. In that vein, I decided to look at the plugins out there that help handle ads on WordPress.

A Week of Politics

So the week started with Bush as the President of the USA and not much happening except getting ready for the inauguration. Then Tuesday happens, and it feels like a tornado is going through the government. In over 30 years of watching national politics, I do not remember this kind of change happening so quickly, in so many areas.

Still More Software

I can say without a doubt, there are far too many people out there making plugins for WordPress. I have already talked about quite a few I have tried out, first in this post, then in this one. But there was just too much to talk about, so I had to stop writing. But I did warn you there would be more to come. Now on with the fun. Continue reading

The Obama Era Starts

There are a lot of places you can hear about the inauguration. It is of course a front page, above the fold, story almost everywhere in the world. In the Gaza Strip, they are treating their wounded, and finding and burying their dead. And they wonder if he will be any different from past American Presidents. A friend from Croatia emailed me to have a happy Obama day, and they are showing the inauguration live there. The same is true to one extent or another over most of the world.

Monthy Comic Shipment

I finally got my monthly shipment of comics from Mile High Comics. I do not particularly like getting all my comics once a month, rather than every week or so, but the local shop closed several years ago and at the time I did not make the drive to other towns to find a shop there. In the years since, I have found a couple of shops in nearby towns but Mile High is doing well enough to keep my business. Continue reading

Okay, the flying car was late, but

Someone has decided that it is finally time to fulfill all the promises from the science fiction of the 40s and 50s. I do not know if it is actually practical for commercial, everyday use, but it certainly looks like fun.

I have bookmarked their site, Skycar Expedition 2009, and will be watching to see how things go.

More Software

Well, I was planning on talking about some more plugins I have found and installed as a followup to my earlier post. Some from recommendations on other blogs, others just by browsing through the plugin directories on WordPress. There are some really neat things out there to add to blogs, the hard part is keeping it down to a reasonable number. I have actually not been as good about that as I should be. I keep wanting to try out new things that seem really neat. Continue reading

City of…Salesmen?

I play the MMO City of Heroes. Started the first day it was released and have been on it ever since. I don’t always play a lot, but I do like jumping on and beating up villains from time to time. Or beating up heroes, if I feel like being a villain at the moment. (Mayhem missions are much more fun than Safeguard missions.) Continue reading

Franken Stealing the Election?

If you are a conservative “journalist” there is no question mark at the end of that sentence. Instead it is an exclamation point. Or in l33t, !!!1!!1!.  For anyone else, that actually knows how to read and is honest about the facts, it is a question you ask with a disbelieving lilt to your voice. Continue reading
